Waterfront Style

The beauty of August 2008 is that the Olympic Games are upon us. I’m eyeing one of those one-piece, head-to-toe black numbers that the U.S. swim team is sporting. Those swimmers just prove that black is always flattering, slimming and totally chic-looking at the pool.

Putting together an entire pool-side ensemble is a piece of cake for those swimmers, but what about you? Well as we reach the tail end of the summer, remember almost everything looks relatively rosy with bronzed skin and a sandy backdrop. Don’t be afraid to test the waters with fashion this August.

I’m playing with ethnic print tunics that double as bohemian-chic cover-ups. But since you can’t accessorize a swimsuit without the suit itself, my favorite styles include the retro-print one pieces (think psychedelic 60’s girl) and demi-cup bikinis that function like a push-up bra. I’m not shy… I’ll take a little help wherever I can get it!

It’s not only athletes who should be celebrating with gold around their necks. If you don’t ride the gold accessories wave this summer, you’re seriously missing opportunity to revive your enormous 80’s hoop earrings, wear your gold, sporty, water-resistant watches and show off gold-fringe jewelry that all spell relaxed luxury. Plus, without a timepiece at the pool, how will you know when to reapply your sunscreen?

When it comes to beach bags, I gravitate towards totes in blinding brights or woven raffia that are roomy enough to stow my multitude of essentials. Finally, I slip on some glam rock flip flops that make my toes want to tap and top off my head with a floppy, oversized hat and suddenly I evoke a bit of old Hollywood glamour.

So rub in that SPF and enjoy summer lovin’ fashions while they last – it will be time to stock up on cozy fall staples before you know it.

In a fashion frame of mind,

aeg
