Autumn Ready
Today I received my first homegrown pumpkin. It’s a cute little ball of orange only five inches in diameter…too small to carve and too darling to cook. Perched on my desk, it’s a reminder that Halloween is near and that it is time to carve out some time to switch my closets.
I’ll be bringing all of my menswear-inspired women’s clothing to the forefront of my wardrobe. Thick fabrics and patterns like wool, tweed and herringbone are cozy and chic. Wearing them, we want to hibernate with a nice long afternoon nap. Vests, fitted coats and pants nip the brisk fall breezes in the bud.
This means men’s watches make for a stunning option on a woman’s wrist to parallel the strong statement in clothing. A big dial, a thick band, a clean face of clear numbers or Roman numerals makes an equally bold, sophisticated impression that works synonymously with the clothes.
Like the beat of marching drums at Homecoming parades, the celebration of American sportswear is revved up this fall. Our new line of ladies everyday Sport Chic watches in its numerous incarnations (autumnal-hued leather bands, metal links in gold or silver) perfectly fit this mood, with a clever little date window to boot.
This brings me to my ideal All-American fall look: a snug fitting leather jacket, a woven miniskirt with tights and a thick woolen hat. Finish with boots or chunky heels and a piping hot mug of apple cider. I’m ecstatic this season is finally here…now if only the leaves would change as dramatically as fall fashion.
In a fashion frame of mind,
aeg
