After the conventions, the campaign trail and the debates, it’s finally here… holiday shopping. Whether you’re in a blue state, a red state or a in a state of confusion, let the following mantra be your guide: rock the vote and shop early!

I’m already making my lists and checking them twice. For the women on my list I’m excited about crystals. They’re one of the biggest, most exciting trends in accessories and they’re also a designer’s darling. Sure, diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but decking yourself in ice comes at a cost. So celebrate crystals with bracelets, broaches, necklaces, shoes and clutches. You’ll even find crystals on clothing—particularly around necklines. A watch with genuine Swarovski crystals is a brilliant gift for a person who wants a sparkly look for a truly smart price.

This winter we’re also seeing the return of costume jewelry, which is a welcome relief in tough economic times. Big baubles sporting faux gems on heavy cuffs and prodigious necklaces are two statement-making pieces that will hail you queen of the cocktail season.

We also want presents that are multifunctional. If you have a guy you love, he’ll love you for this: the new Men’s Timex SL Series Chronograph.
