Winter Shoppingland

Snow is beginning to fall…and so are retail prices. If you haven’t begun your shopping, allow red-pen markdowns to lead your way. There are fabulous finds to be had and deals to be savored! For us serious hunters (as in bargain) everywhere, we’ve been waiting for this moment.

First, a bit of shop-talk 101: ward off the dropping temperatures between your car and the store entrance with a trench coat with hardware detailing—buckles, clasps, oversized buttons—and a thick belt. Don fun little embellished flats so you can shop pain-free, though your arms may tire from bag holding. If you really want to work your way through the crowds in style, then a prescription of stacked heeled loafers is for you.

Once the mall mission is completed, it’s time to replenish with cocktail party sweets and a touch of glam. For festive gatherings, there’s nothing like metallics to bring a sparkle to everyone’s eye. Chain metal necklaces capture instant attention. And whether you arrive with date in tow or not, always have your most important “plus one” on hand with graphic clutches and envelope evening bags of gold, silver or bronze.

At the end of the night, switch your shoes to slippers and celebrate another day well-spent, indulging in a little chocolate…chocolate-brown watches that is. With zero calories, they arrive in the nick of time to remind us that a final late-night dessert is still at-hand…online shopping!

As you surf for great gifts, be sure to hop onto J.Crew.com and consider a vintage-style timepiece. Timex has teamed with J.Crew to design a military-inspired watch inspired by WWII-era aviation timepieces. If your man is clean or rugged – or somewhere in-between– he’ll see his style reflected in the face of this retro-cool watch ($150).

Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, Festive Kwanzaa and, as always, happy shopping!

In a fashion frame of mind,

aeg
